The Dangers of Excess Body Fat
Most individuals try and control their body weight because they want to develop their appearance. Healthy eating benefits the person in a large number of ways. Besides improving appearance, it also helps to avoid diseases and improve immunity.
When someone is starting off to manage their weight, they should first target the fats. For men, it should not go beyond 25 % of the total body weight and for women it should be restricted below 32 % of body weight. Excess of body fat can cause diseases as diabetes, cancer, heart diseases and so on. If any one has fat beyond such percentages, they are obese. Obesity leads to breathing problem because such people need to work their lungs harder to pump their blood throughout the entire body. This results in erratic heart beats and high blood pressure.
Cholesterol levels within the blood increases and such persons are prone to get arteriosclerosis. This disease is the narrowing of arteries. Cholesterol is deposited within the lumen of the arteries. If arteries get blocked, then blood would not reach properly to organs, most of which are quite vital. Keeping organs such a brain, heart and kidney deprived from the blood would lead to diseases. Over and above, if arteries narrow, then the heart will pump harder leading to increase of blood pressure. Heart attack and kidney failure are some of the common problems arising for such cholesterol rise.
Cancer might also occur because of obesity. Body fat is a save heaven for carcinogens. Since women have higher percentage of body fat, so the chances of developing breast cancer as well as uterine cancer is larger for women instead of men who have chances of developing prostrate and coon cancer.
Body fat also has strong connection with sugar level in blood as well as the hormone called insulin. If sugar level in blood increases, then the liver is affected as well. Besides liver there are certain other body organs, which are unable to deal with excess blood sugar. If sugar level in blood becomes high then it is transformed to body fat. When a person has excess fat, these persons tend to accept less of blood sugar.
There are few in whom the pancreas produces large levels of insulin. Body cannot use excess insulin and in turn blood sugar level control is lost. Poor regulation of the blood sugar causes diabetes. In the long run diabetes may also cause heart diseases, blindness, and kidney failure and so on. Diseases of gall bladder as well as digestion are common. One may also suffer from sexual dysfunction, and osteoarthritis.
Researches have shown that it is possible to lose body fat. If people are able to control their body fat, they are also able to control their HDL (High density Lipid) cholesterol as well as triglyceride levels. In the long run, this helps improve appearance by causing reduction of their ration from waist to hip. If anyone is suffering from diseases related to blood pressure, this disease can be significantly controlled.
